Microsoft Word 2013 Speak Command
speak.PNGThe Speak feature adds text to speech to any Microsoft Office 2010/2013 Word document. To add this feature: Click on the drop-down to the right of the Quick Access toolbar (right corner) and choose More Commands. At the next window, click on the drop-down by the first column that reads Popular Commands, select All Commands. Scroll to the Speak feature and press the Add button and then click OK. Highlight the text to be read and click the "Speak" icon.

Natural-Reader-Logo.pngNatural Readers is a free tool that allows the user to read webpages, documents, and emails. The user can also paste or type directly into the program and reads aloud while highlighting one word at a time. The student can easily adjust the speed of the speech rate.

Lesson Pix
lesson pix.PNGLesson Pix is an easy to use visual support website that offers the user to create a variety of activities, communication boards, and visual supports using the 25,000 symbol library. It is available as an app for Word 2013. There is an annual subscription fee of $36. PCS has recently purchased licenses for pre-school classrooms.

Symbol World
symbolworld.PNGSymbol World is a website that matches visuals to text. The website provides current events, science articles, entertainment and more. Symbol world can be used to highlight and listen to text on the website.

JING.JPGJING is offered through TechSmith (Camtasia) as a free download. It offers a free and easy way to capture screen images and short screen shots (video) of your screen for sharing. Can be used for demonstration of concepts.

screencastomatic.JPGFast, free screen recording, much like Jing, limited to 15 minute recordings that can be saved as a video to Youtube. Pro, at $15 per year, features no watermark, longer recordings, editing tools, scripted recording, editing tools, draw and zoom, screenshot tool, and publish to Google Drive, Vimeo, and Dropbox. click here to watch a youtube tutorial.
